Do you need immediate help with stress management? We all feel stressed out in our lives from time to time. There is no such thing as a stress-free life.

The pressures in our lives involve work, paying bills, worrying about relationships, medical problems, divorce, and separation. To deal with chronic stress you first must learn all about stress and the different ways to manage the symptoms of stress.

What is Stress?

Feeling stressed is having an overwhelming feeling coming over you when you have more on your mind than you can handle. You feel it because your body senses danger and goes into a protection mode which is called “fight-or-flight”. The body releases hormones that speed up your heart rate, increases your breathing rate.

Symptoms of Stress?

Stress can affect every part of your body, thoughts, behaviors, and feelings. You may not realize you are suffering from stress and will associate the symptoms with something else.

The symptoms of stress might include:

  • Feeling pain in your chest.
  • Too much or a lack of sleep.
  • Headaches or migraines.
  • Physical muscle tension.
  • Bad eating habits.
  • Drug abuse.
  • Social withdrawal.
  • Lack of motivation.
  • Feeling angry or irritable.
  • Panic attacks.

Different Types Of Stress

According to the American Psychological Association, there are three types of stress:

  1. Acute stress is short-term stress. It’s caused by recent or future demands and pressures. It is easily recognized by most. Too much acute stress however can lead to issues such as post-traumatic stress (PTSD).
  2. Episodic acute stress is a person constantly living in a stressful situation. They are often bad-tempered and constantly feeling tense. They are incredibly competitive and worrisome but thrive off of it.
  3. Chronic stress is definitely the worst. A person feels their lives are falling apart and being destroyed. It slowly wears a person down which then quite often leads to depression, a stroke, cancer, heart failure, and even suicide.

How To Reduce Stress?

You need to realize you can’t live with no stress in your life because stress happens to us all from time to time, but you can control it. To start your stress control techniques you initially need to find out what are your stresses are and what triggers them. Keep a stress diary and write down what caused your stress, how it makes you feel, your reaction to the feelings, and what you did or could have done to eliminate the stress.

  • Do not take on too much.
  • Keep away from stressful people in your life.
  • Keep away from stressful environments.
  • Make to-do lists and spread them out into daily tasks.
  • Organize your day and time management better.
  • Try to Look at things in a positive light.
  • Take the time to express your feelings to people who are close to you.
  • Go for walks, listen to music, take up a hobby.

Do A Stress Test

If you are unsure about your levels of stress, you can take a stress test. They can help give better suggestions on how to recognize your stress and how to overcome the stress that you feel. If your stress is causing you physical ailments, you need to contact your doctor to check for cardiac problems.
